In His Own Words...
When I served as an At-Large member of the Utica Common Council my job was somewhat different than that of a district member. I was in touch with all sections of the city and that allowed me to make intelligent decisions. In order to perform my duties properly I attend countless meetings throughout the city just to have a grasp on what the issues are. I had an open line of communication at all times with all six district representatives in order to address the issues facing them. I owed it to the people that elected me to have that same open line of communication with the administration and work hand-in-hand with them to move a positive agenda forward.
I have said this in the past and it remains true today, I am a small piece of a very large puzzle and I never try to force my piece where it doesn't belong, I know my place. Until every person in an elected office and also those in non-elected community leader positions realize the same, the puzzle will never be complete.
The City of Utica has many positives, let's start with our parks. Our system of parks is the envy of the entire region. Unlike Central Park in New York City, our parks surround our city and we for the most part live in the center of it all. Starting in North Utica it continues into East Utica and then along the Parkway to South East Utica, on to South Utica and then finally to West Utica. Every park has its own uniqueness but they are all one providing some type of recreation, pleasure, peace and tranquility.
Our Museums and Colleges are the finest anywhere. The Stanley Theater, The Utica Zoo, The Utica Memorial Auditorium, our restaurants and unique neighborhoods set us apart for the rest. Utica has so much to offer and is second to none in events like the Utica Boilermaker and America's Greatest Heart Run & Walk. Events such as that are successful because of our greatest asset of all, the people that live in this great city. Our people set us apart from the rest and we need to build on their love for our great city.
